LETTER FROM
RGVGCA PRESIDENT
December 13, 2016
Coaches,

Before I begin, I would like to wish each and every one of you safe holidays.  Now, there are a few thing I would like to cover before our break begins.

        1) Our field for the RGVGCA Regional Preview in February is full.  I would like to say thank you to all the coaches interested in going and have accepted their invitations.  I would also like to say that the RGVGCA deeply regrets not being able to invite "everyone" interested in the event.  There are only a certain amount of players we can fit into a golf course at one time and unfortunately, we have more teams and players interested in the event than we can accommodate on the course. Thank you for your interest and we will definitely keep you in mind for future out of town events

        2) I would like to remind all coaches of our Professional Responsibilities.  Coaches... besides coaching our players, we have other duties to fulfill.  One of those is making sure we enter events we intend to play in and bring the number of players we signed up for.  It is very unprofessional to sign up for 10 players and only bring 4 to the tournament for example.  We need to understand that other schools are told there is no room in the tournament and could have very well played in it due to the "no shows".  We understand that "scratches" will occur, but when a field loses over 20 players due to "no shows", that actually shows disregard to the golf course that is expecting a certain amount of players.  So again, please bring the number of players you sign up for at a tournament.

        3) Coach Castillo has announced that there are quite a few coaches who have hosted tournaments but have not turned the results into HSGS (High School Golf Scoreboard).  Coaches, every year we have a few players from the valley that are exceptional and should be state ranked.  Unfortunately, if we as coaches do not turn in the results, our valley players won't be ranked.  It is unfair to them and to the Valley if we don't do our best to have our players recognized.  So please coaches... at your earliest convenience... if you hosted a tournament in the Fall, turn in the results to HSGS.  If you need assistance, feel free to call me, Coach Celso Gonzalez, or Coach Danny Castillo.  The only results that have been turned in are McAllen Boys, McAllen Girls, Mission Boys, Mission Girls, Weslaco Girls, Brownsville Boys, and Brownsville Girls.  Please coaches... LETS HELP RECOGNIZE OUR PLAYERS.

Finally, I'd like to end this by simply saying "Merry Christmas and Happy, Safe, Holidays to all my fellow coaches".

                                                                               Thank you,

                                                                               Adrian Garcia
